Authentication on DataFinder using Grid credentials (certificates)
Authenticating a user on DataFinder using Grid credentials. This could be one or all of these, using:
* Personal Grid (proxy) certificate
* MyProxy user name/password to retrieve a proxy certificate from a MyProxy instance
* SLCS (Short Lived Credential Service) through Shibboleth
A possible approach is to interface with the task bar applet as developed in the Summer of eResearch's "Research Desktop" project in 2010/2011. This applet is implemented in Python, and should work in a platform independent way. It makes use of an authentication service for the Grid, exposed as a RESTful web service. An advantage would be, that it is independent of the actual application, and can be re-used for further Grid applications. Additionally the DataFinder could be launched from a configurable context menu of the task bar applet for ease of use.
