panning and zooming: making it easier

I wish to propose a new visualization procedure. This procedure is documented in buginabox.net, and allows to obtain an arbitrary view of the work's surface with much less effort than was required so far. The attached demo shows a sample result. The elements have been drawn in Inkscape and imported into java code using "file explorer" flamigo belonging to the project.
