Dithered Gradients
Currently, gradients are just a banded transition from one color stop to the next. Gimp offers the option to dither gradients so the banding is not as perceivable. It would be a huge improvement to Inkscape's gradient editor should it offer the same dithering option.

I would like to see this too.
Possible implementation would be similar to current handling of Gaussian blurs. For faster rendering, gradients within the document would be linear. When exported, Inkscape dithers all gradients. You could turn this off in the preferences if you have a more powerful computer.

This is very important, and I would definitely like to see that solved in a near future. I used Inkscape this week to make a large, high-resolution logo for the first time, and used a subtle gradient on a shape. I was very negatively surprised to see that the gradient does not use any form of dithering, and the banding can be noticeable even without e.g. increasing the contrast of the rendered image.
