yes, a full blown distribution was intentionally specified by me -- my 'sekret agenda' is to start from a known base distribution, and add solutions for interesting 'leaf nodes' with auto-built packages at the last know replacement able to be used. I simply don't care about carrying around DVD and DVD's of content -- I want enough for an installer that gets me a remote package installation tool (smart, yum, rpm5, whatever), and a running sshd for the initial install.
Anything else is:

        A. installed later using the remote package installation tool

either across the wire from outside, or from within the local subnet from a
local archive
