SPECIFICATIONS
Contrail will support virtual network type ‘provider network’ in Neutron, where user can specify the VLAN tag in the underlay
Neutron port “binding:vnic_type” attribute will be supported by Contrail
SRIOV macvtap and direct drivers will be leveraged from OpenStack
vRouter agent will be modified to ignore these provider networks and interfaces
Configuration API
User creates a provider network using network type provider:
User creates port in the provider network and sets binding:vnic_type to either direct or macvtap
User uses this port to launch the VM
