Importing Debian Bugs into Launchpad
Ubuntu is built upon Debian, and thus they share a lot of bugs. Having Debian bugs searchable in Launchpad, makes it easier to find duplicates. It also makes it easier to track release critical bugs, that might be found quicker by Debian users. Importing every single bug would be too much, there's no use case for importing old closed bugs.
We want to import bugs from other bug trackers as well, but it's good to start with Debian bugs since it's easy to get all the information we need in an efficient manner (as opposed to other bug trackers that might not have a good export interface).
All debian bugs newer than a certain date (TBD) will be imported into Launchpad. The import processes will be run daily, updating previously imported bugs, adding newly reported bugs, and include as much information as possible, including comments.
The bugs will be imported having a single Debian bugtask, with a bugwatch pointing to the bug in debbugs.
