2011 ELC Follow Up and Planning
Linaro had a good meeting at the 2011 Embedded Linux Conference. Many things were discussed. This session will talk about next steps and future planning.
Talk and make action items out of Alexander's IDEAS @Linaro:
Action Items:
1. Investigate how to increase Android middleware (NDK, frameworks, JVM) and browser performance, implement those improvements and provide benchmarks that clearly examine each performance improvement. Upstream the the changes.
2. Identify, design and implement Android power tools and facilities. Upstream the changes.
3. Design, implement and benchmark optimizations for Android BSP releases from partners.
4. Working with Google, provide early Android releases for the latest ARM platforms.
5. Create and foster a community around Android for ARM low-cost development board development collaboration.
6. Create a melting, staging and upstreaming area for consolidating all SoC platform board support packages.
7. Build bridges between Google, device manufactures and the larger open-source community, especially the Linux kernel, to help upstream relevant and useful patches,
8. Create a single kernel for use on all Android platforms.
9. Identify and communicate what concepts can be reused outside of Android.
