=== Discussion ===
[joern-schoenyan] Just to make it clear, VLC is out of discussion for legal reasons/issues with bundled codecs, correct?
[gilir] Not necessarly, it's in universe, and we shipped mplayer with a bunch of similar plugins in previous versions
[mathi] please consider a volume control applet like http://
[Baldino] How about qmmp?
[israeldahl] +1 to smplayer is works very well (much better than the current one in Lubuntu)
[joern-schoenyan]+1 for Clementine. I have installed it for my father on his computer at work, he has to manage a music library with more than 100.000 titles. Clementines searches really fast, even on an old computer (low end Sempron with ~2 GHz and only 768 MB RAM).
[andre-rodovalho] +1 to smplayer, very good peice of software... I will try Clementine too...
[gilir] I pushed vlc with Qt5 in the last ISO, to have some testing. smplayer is also a good candidate but for now I fail to compile it with Qt5 (I didn't take too much time to look at it ...)
[andre-rodovalho] I loved Clementine! Nice to have so many good options... VLC is another wonderful piece of software...
[gilir] smplayer is now available with Qt5, and I done some testing which confirm a better performance with mplayer based player than vlc
[tsimonq2] After re-evaluating this, in my honest opinion, VLC is the obvious choice here. Thoughts on that?
[gilir] Same though than before, best performance for smplayer. Also, vlc interface is really ... not the best
