We have a customer set where pre-caching VM images onto hosts would be very useful to improve build times. The use case is a customer who will launch 100s of VMs in a very short period of time and the image is known ahead of time. In this case we can download images prior to VM launches either in a cell or subset of the region. We would like to explore:
- adding an interface RPC call to the compute to pre-cache the image
- different options that may be available to download the image (glance, torrent, hybrid)
