OggConvert currently doesn't offer anywhere near as many conversion options as other transcoders, for example ffmpeg2theora. This blueprint is to track the progress of an updated encoder, including such features as:
Video cropping
Video resizing
Deinterlacing
Video balance alterations (hue, saturation, gamma etc)
Video framerate adjustment
Audio resampling
and probably a few other things I've forgotten.
