make search area distinct from form area

Frequently (inexperienced/new) users (and also myself) enter the search criteria in form - not realizing that they have to switch to list view to do this
result -> data are overwritten.

IMHO it would be helpful if the search area could be made visually different from the form
* different background color for fields and/or canvas (not helpful for visual impaired)
* reverse colors
