Rewrite queries coming from client

Sometime it is not easy to fix queries in application as it requires long deployment times,
but DBA wants an ability to fix bad (not performing as intended) queries.
The ideal case is to use as plugin ( is audit plugin suitable ? )
Rewriting rules may be defined with some scripting language ( Lua, Javascript V8).
