Media Storage in Amazon AWS
Registered by
Pidge Pidge
A file-storage plugin so that file media stored or used by Pidge [images, CSS, javascript, group / event images] can be accessed using Amazon's Simple Storage Service [S3], and distributed to users via Amazon Cloudfront.
Amazon S3 is a cost-effective way to store media, and Cloudfront is an effective way to distribute it.
The practical upshots are:
1) Our pages load more quickly at the user end: media are requested from a separate server to the dynamic content, and delivered quickly.
2) We take load off our server.
3) We have an automatic reliable backup of content like group logos, without the need to arrange this ourselves.
