this is becoming a slightly larger effort.
Removal of the mockdb driver has caused the functional tests to break due to some assumptions made in those tests that relied on a mockdb response.
I will make a separate PR that fixes the functional tests to not rely on a particular storage driver to be in place. i.e. mock the storage driver.
Blocked until we have cassandra at the gate.
