Ubuntu Server Guide - LTS only
We are proposing the following:
1. Developing and publishing the Guide for Ubuntu LTS releases only
2. Unofficial publications based on snapshots of the interim development branch (available online)
3. Removing String Freeze and publishing links to some languages on help.ubuntu.com. This implies:
(a) A more flexible and realistic cooperation between contributors, committers, and translators
(b) All translations may not be published in the snapshots
Rationale:
- We don't have enough administrative (review/commit) help and we don't have enough contributor help. With LTS-only we will be able to focus at least on quality LTS documentation.
- Ubuntu Server installations tend to be LTS anyway.
- Based on observation, translators find the current string freeze schedule too aggressive.

Whiteboard
During UDS [1] we reached consensus on this proposal.
We went on to discuss improving the level of content contributions:
(a) Settle on an XML editor that will make editing the source files easier
(b) Possibly moving away from the XML format, for the same reason
(c) Other ways to attract contributors (beyond email to ubuntu-doc and ubuntu-server mailing lists). That is, publicity.
