the status of a testplan run should be extractable at runtime without waiting for a test to complete
Background:
We have a test suite that takes now 15 hours to complete, and the pass / fail status of the subtests is only displayed
at the end of the run, which means we can only work from checkpoint exception logs to determine whether there are
any regressions.
Problem:
the checkpoint exceptions file also contains soft errors, so it's hard to distinguish
between hard and soft failures.
Solution:
Give a live status of the currently running test-suite on request
Possible implementation:
TCP port (configurable, we have more than one test running on the same machine) listening on localoop
and responding to the command STATUS. This would output the same status information that we get at
the end of the test run. This can then be queried easily with netcat.
