Consider using Citadel, eGroupware, OBM or another open source variant for a complete messaging solution. Companies today need a simple, full featured suite for collaboration. Unfortunately items such as Exchange and Lotus force people to a certain platform but continues to be the solution of choice. This isn't because Exchange or Lotus are great but due to open source alternatives are timely to setup, configure and integrate into existing systems. (Such as Active Directory).
