Easy to use backup/restore system for users
Provide an easy to use backup restore system for users both through the Ubuland control panel and through the users desktop. The desktop application should be cross platform using python and pygtk and login to a users account through ftp to download a backup to their desktop

i have started work on the desktop application which uses no operating system specific code and is cross platform
[bobbo] (cut out stuff we dont need in here anymore)
Targetted this for alpha-three. The backend scripts for generating the tarball need to be written (python? bash?) and hooked into the backend functions. Ideally the graphical client should be functional (as in being able to generate the tarball and take it off the server onto the users computer).

I'm putting desktop client development on hold during the python rewrite, it is working just not very refined and only on *nix
