GEIS Gesture API Roadmap
The GEIS 2.0 spec has been getting a lot of attention on the MT mail list. A very general solution has been proposed for 2.0, but this may involve too much work for a 6-month cycle. What should be in GEIS 2.0, 2.1, or 3.0 is still being discussed. At UDS, the intended plans will be established for the gesture API, and we will be able to present this for discussion and finalization.
Backwards compatibility:
* making GEIS 1.0 multi-threaded?
* adding spec and implementation for XI2.1 (pull from toolkits, push to GEIS)
The goal:
* have GEIS 2.0 ready half-way through Natty (will get date for that)
* make sure that the plan for 2.0 can be done in that time (basically about 1.5 months of actual development)
* spread the remaining development work out (in a sane way) over subsequent GEIS versions
