GUI tool to create ramdisks

Write a graphical tool that allows one to create a ramdisk that appears on the desktop afterwards like a real disk. It would also be very useful if one could configure the ramdisk so its data is synced back (by a daemon?) to a specific directory every x seconds or minutes. Such a tool would be very useful for all people who have to deal with data that is repeatedly changed by disk intensive processes (like software developers e.g.) and want a solution that is cheaper and faster than buying a SSD.
