An installer for fonts just like the ubuntu add/remove programs
I think a great feature for Ubuntu would be a way to add/remove open source fonts from a repository just like the add/remove program panel. When a user needs a new font, they could open up the window, and the program would download the latest repository fonts. The user could look through the fonts and choose which ones to install by simply checking a box and clicking "apply."
Also, a great feature along with this would be a font selection box. Many designers like to have huge font libraries installed, but that doesn't mean that they want all of them to come up in the font dialogs like inside OpenOffice. If there were a way to choose which fonts are currently "active," a lot of the clutter could be reduced until a user wants to activate it for a particular use.
