Refinements, Exposing Features, Collecting Code, Add Shortcuts
I'd think that Ubuntu gets a lot of specifications like this one:
https:/
Which are simply from the poster not knowing existing features: the gnome interface is a bit different from Explorer of Windows: good. However some of it seems rather odd: why do we need buttons when an address-bar (or location bar if you like) shows the same information? A location bar isn't limiting: the buttons are. I propose the location/address bar be made the default in Ubuntu so people can get to typing: it wouldn't hurt noobs or pros at all, and maybe a few lines of code could then be deleted.
And for new users, I propose that this link:
http://
Or a similar page tailored to Ubuntu specifically (preferable) be placed on the desktop with a descriptive name, as well as in the help files and have it very exposed to the users to find. .
As for usability: some of the Ubuntu derivatives are doing good jobs at exposing features and increasing ease-of-use without being condescending, causing clutter, or being ridiculous (from a power-user's point of view): Ubuntu ought, I think, to survey what they're doing and collect code to implement from such distros as linuxmint and simplymepis every once in a while. For instance, LinuxMint's latest release specs are here:

The networking and wifi tools would probaby help a lot of people...
