2010-may-14: What is the impact on Canonical support services if we are providing later kernels into the LTS.
How will the kernels be provided, will they appear in the archive as upgrades?
We need an internal discussion of whether we're wiling to provide the same guarantees as the existing LTS kernel.
2010-may-25 (rtg) Backported kernels will be supplied as a Lucid package in 'main'. They will also be an installer option on the Lucid point release DVD. These kernels will be supported and released in conjunction with the release kernel upon which it is based. For example, the Maverick LTS backport will be updated within a few days of the actual Maverick kernel upload to proposed. These kernels will be supported according to the standard policies of their respective releases, e.g., the Maverick backport will get SRU and CVE patches for 18 months.
