Allow for installation of Desktop using LVM

I've tried both ubuntu (8.04) and fedora (9). Stayed with ubuntu for a number of reasons, but one of the nice things about fedora is that it installs using LVM if the machine contains more than one hard drive, as mine does. I gather that there are a number of advantages to LVM, particularly in my situation, and that installation of LVM in ubuntu is a challenge. The ask is to have LVM installation easily supported in ubuntu desktop edition out of the box.
