Make easier configuring and connecting with a gprs/umts modem (mobile phone)

Configuring a gprs/umts modem to get connected to internet is not so easy in ubuntu. someone has to use wvdial to get connected. I think that Network Manager should be able to deal with this issues, allowing end users to configure the modem through the UI.
