Upstream Kernel Bug Process and Relationship
We need to improve the Ubuntu to upstream kernel bug process and relationship. We need to encourage more testing of the upstream kernel when bugs are found in the Ubuntu kernel. Ideally bug fixes should go upstream first and then be pulled into the Ubuntu kernel. Part of this will include educating bug reporters on how to test the upstream kernel. Additionally we should try to make this process easier by providing an upstream vanilla kernel package for users to install. We also need to help document the proper upstream bug reporting best practices when a bug is confirmed to exist upstream. We should also document what is expected of the bug reporter when working with the upstream developers and upstream bug reports.
