Desktop taskbar placed at desktop side
Mainstream Linux desktops support horizontal taskbar at the bottom or at the top of the screen. This is traditional model from the past. But most users can benefit from the taskbar that is located at the side (left or right) of the desktop as they can use screen space in the way that is more optimal for common work. This feature will become more important in the near future when more users will have widescreen monitors (LCD panels 16:9).
It is possible to put taskbar at side with current Ubuntu distributions (Dapper, Edgy) but as taskbar was not designed for this layout it is not as user friendly as it could be and have to be seriosly improved to be usable in real live.
Once implemented this can be important Linux feature to compete with other OSs on the market.

Ditto. The way the window list works in vertical mode is broken.
