Use Suspend2 in place of the normal swsusp.
Use Suspend2 in place of the normal swsusp.
The benefits of this are that:
usplash integration is provided(no blank screen on suspend or restart)
suspend to disk is much more reliable(yet to prove this on a wide user base)
faster hibernate time(mainly due to a compressed image)
lower chances of a failure due to lack of space in swap(once again due to compressed image)

The biggest reason to do this IMO is that ubuntu updates keep breaking suspend and hibernate, and ubuntu offers little or no support when that happens, but TuxOnIce (suspend2) is very actively and helpfully supported by its author. If something breaks, I can get the help I need in fixing it.

Agreed. I believe this should be a goal for Hardy, simply because suspend and hibernate are *expected* to work in modern laptops. It is a major showstopper for people when it does not. I also think extensive testing needs to be done by volunteers on various configurations to test the reliability of the implementation during the development cycle for Hardy.
