Unified desktop integration
In the community development model, there are certain things good in one project and others in another project. GNOME has some good work done in some of its applications (Seahorse Key Management application, for example) and so is KDE (Dolphin File Manager, Digikam / kPhotoAlbum, Games etc)
Unity is already the right answer for this blueprint. With Unity, we are in the direction to get the best of both worlds. This blueprint is a request to add much tighter integration amongst Linux applications so that the outlook to the user is uniform.
* Provide uniform File Dialogs. (Could be GNOME or KDE's)
* Provide uniform progress bars.
* Provide uniform and integrated look and feel (It is already almost complete with Unity)
* Provide inter-communicable message passing among these applications.
* Provide inter-communicable event passing among these applications / services.
* Provide common / shareable storage format
Ultimate Goal: Irrespective of which application is used in whichever environment, the output and the experience should be uniform and transparent.
