On powering Down auto-disconnect mounted volumes properly for data safety

When one shuts down his computer, or puts it into hibernate or suspend while certain devices are mounted (usb and external HDs) they are not unmounted properly and upon restart the warning message to unmount them properly is displayed. I propose they ought be unmounted (forcefully if necessary) by the system in order to preserve data; if forcefully unmounted any files on the system should be moved to a temporary cache to be recovered by the program using them; upon powering-up the system from whatever state if the device is still connected (or reconnected) it should be mounted seamlessly so the user will be unaware of anything...keeping even folders/files open as if no magic occured to protect their data. : )
