Auto Backup of bankfile

Registered by Alex Rybicki

Data contained within ~/.wxbanker/bank.db should be easy to back up, either automatically or by prompt from the user. Destination should be selectable, and each backed up bankfile should be labeled by timestamp. An automated, command-free option within the GUI of the process described here: https://answers.launchpad.net/wxbanker/+question/61316

Whiteboard

2009.02.18 mrooney: thanks for the blueprint! Any specific ideas on how this would look in the UI? Something like a File -> Backups menu could work, which would have two options, "Create backup" and "Load backup". The Create option would ask you to choose a directory and specify a prefix, and then it would be stored as "$prefix-$timestamp.db". Then for loading backups, you would specify a directory, and it would show all backups in that directory and let you choose one. A third "Configure automated backups" could exist which allows you to specify a directory and how often to make a backup.

How does that sound? And what should happen when you load a backup? Does that overwrite your current file? If so I guess we'd want a warning (maybe automatically back up the current one). If not, what happens?
